Honour for Calzaghe

Undefeated world champion Joe Calzaghe will receive a CBE from the Queen on Wednesday.

The Welshman, who beat American fighter Roy Jones Jr earlier this month, is awarded the honour for services to sport and voluntary services in Wales.

Calzaghe, 36, undefeated in 46 bouts, dominated the super-middleweight division for 10 years and beat Mikel Kessler in November 2007 to unify the WBO, WBA and WBC titles for the first time.

The Welshman then stepped up to light-heavyweight and defeated Bernard Hopkins in April to claim the championship belt.

He outclassed Jones Jr during their bout at New York's Madison Square Garden, despite being knocked down in the first round - earning himself plaudits as the UK's greatest boxer.
