HARLEQUINS have confirmed that London Welsh will not be playing at The Stoop next season if promoted to the Premiership.
Welsh, who play at Old Deer Park in Richmond, have reached the Championship play-off final, where they will face Cornish Pirates over two legs.
However, Old Deer Park is not suitable for Premiership rugby and cannot be developed, and Welsh are experimenting with playing their home leg of the final at Oxford United FC.
The Stoop was one of the rumoured solutions to Welsh's conundrum should they win the right to promotion, but Quins poured cold water on the idea.
A club spokesman said: “Given the ongoing speculation in the mediaabout the possibility of London Welsh using The Stoop for the club’s home fixtures should it secure promotion to the Premiership, Harlequins would like to confirm that there is no agreement between the clubs, nor are any discussions currently taking place about such a possibility.”
