CABLE World championships come to Princes Lake, Bedfont

The cream of the cabling world came to Bedfont this week for the Cable World Championships.

The sport, invented in the 1960s, is like waterskiing, but involves skiiers attached to a cable rather than a boat.

This gives them more freedom to compete in tricks and jumps as well as just speed.

Princes Lake, in Clockhouse Lane, has held a reputation as being one of the best cabling venues around for a while, and a World Championhips there was long overdue.

More than 75 competitors from 17 different countries took part in qualifiers on Thursday and Friday before battling it out in the finals on Saturday.
