BOWLS Ashford are triples champions again

Ashford won the Richmond, Barnes & District Triples Competition at the weekend for the second year running.

Ian Ford, David Taylor and Colin Staples emerged victorious 17-13 from a keenly-fought contest against North Sheen.

Earlier in the week, Staples teamed up with C Tanner and N Greed for a 25-8 rink victory as Ashford's men edged past Byfleet 63-56, after both teams won two rinks. Meanwhile, the ladies gained revenge for their five-shot defeat at Windsor Great Park earlier in the season by beating them 61-37 last Tuesday.

Having gone 17 points clear at the half-way stage, Ashford were never going to surrender their lead and ended up winning all three rinks.

Their best came from C Daines, M Law and J Goulds, who chalked up a 23-8 victory.
