BOWLS Plastic not so fantastic

An artificial pitch proved the only blip on Ashford's week.

The Woodthorpe Road club won against Sunningdale and Cambridge Park, but found plastic wasn't so fantastic in a men's match at Slough.

Ashford couldn't get to grips with the man-made green and crashed 67-36 to their Berkshire opponents.

However, they bounced back to clinch an emphatic win over Cambridge Park on Saturday.

A Reason, W Cox, M Delaney and D Ayton Jnr (30-22), and R Searle, A Anderson, G Aylott and D Coleman (23-15) led the way in the 4-0 win.

Meanwhile, M Law, C Stedman and M Gammon top-scored as Ashford's ladies won 60-37 at Sunningdale.
