Mac the knife

Goal king Aaron McLeish picked up where he left off last season with two goals in Bedfont Green's opening pre-season friendly. An own-goal completed the scoring as Green beat Harefield 3-0.

But a James Hennessy brace was not enough to prevent a 4-3 defeat for the second string to Harefield reserves. A much-weakened Green side then lost 3-1 to Bicester, while the reserves let a 3-0 lead slip to draw 3-3 with Woking & Horsell after changing much of the team at half-time.

Meanwhile, Bedfont kicked off their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Hellenic League Division One champions Chalfont Wasps on Saturday. Boss Mick Turtle ran the rule over seven trialists, and it was two of them that scored to give his side victory. Bedfont entertain Ryman North promotion favourites Enfield Town tonight at the Orchard before visiting Hanworth Villa on Saturday.

Newly-formed AFC Ashford are looking for a new keeper and striker after an unlucky spate of injuries.

They entered a pre-season tournament last weekend and saw their keeper fall to a shoulder injury and two strikers suffer groin strains. Anyone interested in playing should call Ron Fuller on 07984 633600.

AFC will make their debut in the Middlesex County League Division Three (Hounslow & District) next season.
