STAND-IN Dons captain Gareth Gwillim has targeted tonight's visit of Macclesfield Town as a revenge mission for his side.
Dons were humbled 4-0 at Moss Rose last August in a defeat that still pains Gwillim, who has been handed the armband with both club skipper Jamie Stuart and vice-captain Brett Johnson currently out of the team.
After leading Dons to two successive wins, the latest being a sensational 4-3 win at Gillingham, Gwillim said: "Personally, I cannot remember being involved with a team that were 3-1 down with 15 minutes to go and ended up winning.
"Once we equalised, there was only going to be one team that was going to win it. But we have got to take that form into the Macclesfield match. We have had two good weeks, but we need to go again and we owe them one big time.
"It all means nothing if we do not do anything at home. We have got to massively improve at home. I am a bit jealous of the young lads that have come in as I wish I had played in a game like that (Gillingham) when I was 18 or 19. They have brought a lot of quality to the club. They are fresh faces and bubbly characters as well who have really gelled in with the lads here."
Though 29-year-old Gwillim's captaincy may only be a temporary honour, he admits it is a great source of pride during a career that has involved spells at Bishops Stortford, Histon and Dagenham and Redbridge.
"I am just looking after the armband until Jamie gets back in the team," he added. "My Dad the other day said that I am captain of a Football League club and then it dawned on me that it is a hell of an achievement.
"I am absolutely buzzing, the fans were brilliant today and they have been tremendous all season."
