A PUBLIC square which could host regular markets is among the latest plans to regenerate Hounslow town centre.
A hopper bus service, a local shopping centre around Kingsley Road and a facelift for the High Street and Lampton Road are among the other options being considered.
They are the results of a year-long consultation by Hounslow Council to find out what changes residents and businesses believe would improve the area.
Council leader Peter Thompson said it was vital to restore pride in Hounslow and across the borough.
"Hounslow’s town centre hasn’t fulfilled its potential over recent years, but that could be set to change with our strategy for the regeneration of the area," he added. "Rebuilding Hounslow in the present economic climate is going to be a challenge. However, it is vital for us ensure that all our plans are in place now, so that as soon as things improve, we’re ready to get started."
Possible plans for the town centre also include better leisure facilities, and an improved and refurbished office quarter around Bath Road and Staines Road.
