A schoolboy has been rushed to hospital after his bike collided with a car in Staines Road, Hounslow.

Witnesses told how the boy, believed to be from St Mark's Catholic School in nearby Bath Road, flew into the air after hitting the car with his bike at around 3.30pm today.

The boy, who appeared to be around 12, got to his feet after landing but immediately collapsed.

He was bleeding badly but remained conscious when he was stretchered into the waiting ambulance.

The accident happened at the junction with Hibernia Road, near the Lord Palmerston pub.
