Firefighters

Dozens of people were forced from their homes in Brainton Avenue on Sunday night as firemen fought flames at a nearby electrical sub-station.

Around 30 people were evacuated from their homes for two hours during the blaze, which destroyed the sub-station and seven garages.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters, from Feltham, Heston, Twickenham and Kingston Fire Stations, rushed to the scene at 6.46pm and managed to bring the flames under control by 7.29pm.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
